I am 50 and I have been interested in Dracula for as long as I can remember. There were none of these great new books available when I was younger, aside from the classics. I'm happy to see that there are other people so interested in Dracula and vampires. I grew up feeling like quite different than most. Thanks for such great book recommendations. I haven't read them all, but I am adding them to my list.
Wonderful intro to the books you have read. Thank you for sharing and explaining in detail what these books are about. You have a wonderful library! Fascinating video.🦇🦇🏰
Great recs~ Also really loving The Historian and Hellsing mentions. I feel like people don't talk enough about either. The audiobook of The Historian is also really amazing. It felt like listening to a big budget radio drama production.
I finally started reading original Dracula thanks to you (its a slow process since I am also in the middle of other book) and gotta say I am so obessed. So grateful for Stoker for giving us this masterpiece and thank you for this beautiful recommendation video... now I can choose which other Dracula related content I can consume next (aside from movies)
Growing up in the seaside town where some of dracula was written, i have always loved it. Even as a young girl, I wanted to read anything related to it. There are a couple of childrens books that really stuck in my mind, Room 13 by Robert Swindells and Bunnicula by Deborah and James Howes. I dont have any adult recommendations as you've already covered them. The Historian is one of my favourites.
To have a collection of books all about Dracula, it would be remiss to not include the trilogy from Jeanne Kalogridis (Covenant with the Vampire, Children of the Vampire, and Lord of the Vampires). What I love about this trilogy is that it takes place before and right along events in Stoker's Dracula. I promise you will enjoy it.
I just came across your channel/video and i love everything about this! Some of the books you‘re recommending I already own, but have not read all of them. The Historian though is my favorite book of all time. When I read it years ago it had such an impact on me, that I couldn’t pick up another book for almost a year. It definitely needs a reread❤️
Thank you for the tour of your shelves! Super interesting and informative. You mentioned some Dracula books I didn't know about (and now have to read). 🦇
I've read and loved most of the books on this list! Especially the Historian and Dracul. Dowry of Blood's good too. I love the atmosphere of them all. I'm currently reading the Book of Renfield by Tim Lucas. I'm only halfway through, but I'm enjoying it so far so I thought I'd mention it in case you haven't read it yet.
Thank you! I haven’t read Karen Essex’s book but I did read Syrie James’ and unfortunately it wasn’t for me. I struggle with romance but Dowry of Blood is an exception for me 😅🖤
The Historian looks interesting and I've placed it on my reading list. If you are ever inclined to read a variation of the vampire story, I recommend Sometimes, After Sunset by Tanith Lee. It contains two novellas and Sabella, or the Blood Stone is a vampire story that has stayed with me for decades!
Hi! Just stumbled on your channel. I like the Metro books graphic novel version of Dracula - follows the Bram Stoker story closely. My only complaint is that Dracula doesn't look like how he's described in the book; he looks more like tha Bela Lugosi archetype, hah.
If you are not aware of Tom Hollands secret histories books, read Vampyre and Supping With Panthers both are fantastic books. I think you might like them.
I wanted to know what your favorite version of vampires are. I'm assuming Dracula because of the video title but also wanted to know how you would compare it to Anne Rice's version. Also, if opportunity struck, would you want to be a vampire or do you just enjoy reading vampiric gothic literature?
I’m a huge Anne Rice fan! My next video is going to be about her books. Hmm I’m not sure I would want to live forever, but of course I do love reading about them
Thank you for this beautiful video. I only have about half of these so good motivation to expand my collection. The soundtrack is gorgeous, may I ask where it's from?
@@Draculelle the lesbian aspect adds a more lush atmosphere. The gothic take really works for me especially in the films. I like vampire stories that rely less on blood and gore.

@@Draculelle Hi, I've listened to it now. Great book, but also a slap to the face for every old-school Dracula fan. First of all, the story is interesting and brilliantly interwoven with Bram Stoker's original novel. The protagonists are likeable, the villains are pretty evil. The audio performance also stands out positively. However, if you're a fan of Dracula and roll your eyes when you think of Francis Ford Coppola's version with the added Dracula- and-Mina-are-in-love-story, you'll probably be tearing your hair out here. What the author does with the original characters is interesting but also difficult to digest. It was okay for me, but more than once I thought "Really?". Another point is that the novel primarily features LGBTQ+ characters - if "straight" characters appear at all, they are usually portrayed negatively (especially men). That's not a dealbreaker for me either, but at least one positively portrayed non-LGBTQ+ character wouldn't have been bad. All in all, a clear reading/listening recommendation for all Dracula, Vampire Chronicles and horror fans!

Beautiful books! I also loved Dracula in Love by Karen Essex and Dracula My Love: The Secret Journals of Mina Harker by Syrie James.
Thank you! I haven’t read Karen Essex’s book but I did read Syrie James’ and unfortunately it wasn’t for me. I struggle with romance but Dowry of Blood is an exception for me 😅🖤

I have these on my list! Definitely going to read them now, thank you! 🙏
I absolutely love The Historian
One of the best books🥰🖤
I'm excited for the other recs but I read dowry of blood and despised it. Happy to see different retellings though.
Fair enough! It’s not for everyone
Hey guys, I think she might be a fan of Dracula
What gave it away 👀

I can recommend "Dracula the Undead" by Freda Warrington - another sequel to the original novel.
Thank you for this!🖤
You might like a book called The Dead Travel Fast by Deanna Raybourn.
I shall check it out, thank you☺️
Thank you for this beautiful video. I only have about half of these so good motivation to expand my collection. The soundtrack is gorgeous, may I ask where it's from?

A thank you from a fellow Dracula lover to you! Do you watch movie adaptations too or are you more focused on books?
Thank you! Yes I do although I would say generally I’m more into books ☺️
Are you interested in female vampire books and movies like Carmilla?
Yes! Carmilla is a favourite of mine. I would love to do a video about female vampires soon
